CPSL 3rd report

CPSL concluded that spatial planning can contribute significantly to improve the resilience of the coastal system against climate change. Depending on varying vulnerabilities of different uses, spatial planning can be a part of risk management. In case of the coastal zone, spatial planning can help to diminish the potential for damage caused by flooding and land loss. Coastal risk management is more than the protection against the hazards of flooding and land loss. It may be seen as a holistic control loop that consists of a number of interacting elements or tasks, involving all measures to avoid and reduce vulnerabilities against coastal hazards
