Mandø and Wadden Sea voted natural treasure in Denmark
Mandø and the Wadden Sea are among the 15 most important natural treasures ("naturkanon") in Denmark. It has now been officially confirmed after the Minister of Environment, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, published Denmark's "Naturkanon" on Tuesday, which contains the three most beautiful and most important natural sites in each of the five Danish regions. In the region of Southern Denmark Mandø and the Wadden Sea were selected together with Svanninge Bakker and Bjerge on Funen and Trelde Næs og Trelde Forest at Fredericia. The jury included Mandø and the Wadden Sea because "the Wadden Sea is Denmark's most important contribution to the world's nature and therefore a clear national natural treasure."
