Sediment solutions webinar connects stakeholders from various sectors
Within the framework of the Partnership Hub, the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat held a webinar focusing on sediment solutions on 24 April 2024. The event adds to a previous series of webinars and study visits organised by the Dutch Programme towards a Rich Wadden Sea.
The webinar presenters explored the historical changes in the sediment balance of the Wadden Sea, emphasizing the necessity of understanding historic sediment budgets for the development of sustainable and cohesive sediment management strategies. Additionally, the over 50 participants from the three Wadden Sea countries discussed ongoing research on the ecological impacts of sediment management, particularly on mussel beds. The event’s broad participation underscored the significance of the topic across various sectors including NGOs, authorities, research, and industry.
The organisaiton of the webinar was a joint effort of CWSS together with Wim Schoorlemmer (Ministry of LNV) and Jurre de Vries (RW) who helped shaping the programme and Hein Sas, who supported the programme development and chaired the event. The webinars organisers thank the presenters Bas van Maren (Deltares), Andreas Wurpts (NLWKN), and Inga Nordhaus (NLPVW).
